The 14th Superyacht Challenge Antigua (SYCA) successfully brought together a fleet of spectacular yachts, passionate sailors, and a relaxed party atmosphere, where fun, fair racing, and good companionship were at the heart of the event. The SYCA’s clear objective is to provide the ideal setting for an exclusive group of superyachts, focusing on pure enjoyment afloat and ashore, free from commercial endorsements. The regatta is designed purely for the pleasure of superyacht owners, their guests, and crew, combining four days of thrilling racing with laid-back social events. If you think the fun ends there, well the yacht that breaks the record will be awarded in rum based on the skipper’s weight.

2025 SYCA Results:
The regatta featured perfect sailing conditions, with moderate trade winds and clear skies, presenting dynamic challenges for sailors. In the Round Antigua Race, the 121ft Dykstra sloop Action, captained by Angus Fuller, claimed the Antigua Rigging Trophy in memory of the late Stan Pearson. In the Half Round the Island Race, the 182ft Dykstra schooner Adela triumphed, while Oyster 885 Karibu took the win in the Corinthian Division.
Class Champions:
Action dominated the Corsairs Class for the third time in four regattas, followed by Gitana and Nostromo, which also won the Corinthian Division. In the Privateers Class, Adela took its third class win, with Rebecca and Catalina finishing in second and third. Freya claimed victory in the Buccaneers Class for the second consecutive year.
Social Events & Charity:
Off the water, the regatta’s social events were a major highlight. Freya won the Famous Cook-Off, and Adela took Best Theme for its creative plywood-Jeep entrance. Karibu was named Best-Dressed Team, and Catalina won the Loudest Shirt competition. The Charity Paddleboard Race raised $1,300 for PAAWS Animal Hospital, with Rebecca taking first place. Nostromo won the Rebecca Spirit of Tradition Trophy, and the prestigious Gosnell Trophy went to Catalina.

Record-Breaking Race Around Antigua:
An optional race around the island adds excitement to the regatta, with the current record set by the 218ft ketch Hetairos in 2022 at 3 hours, 46 minutes, and 8 seconds. The yacht that breaks this record will win the skipper’s weight in rum!
Looking Ahead to 2026:
The 15th Superyacht Challenge Antigua is set for March 3-8, 2026, with a new course mark at Green Island, named “Claire” in honor of photographer Claire Matches. As always, the event will celebrate world-class sailing, fierce competition, and the unique camaraderie that makes the SYCA a one-of-a-kind regatta.
